The afternoon fourballs session at the Solheim Cup got underway with an impressive display of shot-making on the opening hole. The U.S. pairing of Megan Khang and Lauren Coughlin faced off against Europe’s Maja Stark and Linn Grant in the first match of the round.
Coughlin made a strong opening statement, landing a precise wedge shot that positioned the American team for an easy birdie opportunity. However, Stark countered with an even more spectacular approach, executing a wedge that bounced twice before finding the bottom of the cup for an eagle.
The spectacular play from Stark gave the European duo an early 1-up advantage as they continued their undefeated record in the competition. With momentum on their side after the opening hole, Stark and Grant appeared well-positioned to extend their success throughout the afternoon session.
