Apple’s iPhone Duo, the company’s first foldable smartphone, maintains compatibility with MagSafe wireless charging despite its innovative design. The device supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at speeds up to 25W, allowing users to reach 50 percent battery capacity in approximately 30 minutes when paired with a compatible power adapter rated at 35W or higher.
For those prioritizing faster charging speeds, the iPhone Duo offers wired charging via USB-C. With a 60W-rated cable and appropriate USB Power Delivery adapter, the device can reach 50 percent charge in around 20 minutes. Apple’s new protective cases for the Duo, including the $79 Duo Case and $129 Duo Folio with Kickstand, feature built-in magnets compatible with MagSafe and Qi2 chargers, eliminating the need to remove cases during charging sessions.
The $1,999 foldable phone houses dual high-energy batteries managed by software as a single system. Battery life varies depending on which display is in use, with the smaller 5.4-inch outer screen providing up to 44 hours of video playback and the larger 7.6-inch inner screen offering 31 hours. When usage is distributed equally between both displays, Apple estimates approximately 24 hours of battery life per charge. Preorders begin October 16, with general availability starting October 23.
