Apple TV has greenlit an eighth season of its acclaimed spy thriller “Slow Horses,” marking another chapter for the series following its recent Emmy victory for outstanding directing in a drama series. The upcoming season will consist of six episodes and draws its source material from “Clown Town,” the ninth installment in Mick Herron’s “Slough House” novel collection.
Gary Oldman will reprise his role as the titular Jackson Lamb, the gruff intelligence operative at the center of the show. The actor received an Emmy nomination for his performance in the lead acting category. According to the season synopsis, Oldman’s character will engage in a major confrontation with Kristin Scott Thomas’s Diana Taverner, with the plot involving a failed blackmail scheme and the uncovering of secrets within MI5.
Jay Hunt, Apple TV’s creative director of international programming, expressed enthusiasm about the renewal, praising the show’s distinctive approach to espionage storytelling and its ensemble cast. Director Adam Randall will return to helm the new season, while Ben Vanstone will serve as writer and executive producer. The sixth season of “Slow Horses” is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV this week, with the seventh season having been announced previously.
