iRobot has unveiled two new hybrid vacuum-mop systems at IFA 2026, marking a significant shift in how the company approaches cleaning performance. The Roomba Max 875 Combo retails for $1,199, while the more affordable Roomba Plus 678 Combo is priced at $899. Rather than simply increasing suction power, iRobot has introduced innovative features designed to improve actual cleaning results on carpeted surfaces and tackle stubborn, dried-on debris.
The standout innovation in both models is SealForce Vacuuming Technology, which fundamentally changes how the robots interact with your floors. When carpet is detected, a mechanical skirt automatically descends and forms an airtight seal against the fibers, preventing suction loss and delivering concentrated cleaning power directly into the carpet pile. The Max 875 generates 35,000 Pa of suction compared to the Plus 678’s 30,000 Pa, enabling three times deeper dirt removal according to the manufacturer.
Both robots feature heated mopping capabilities with self-cleaning roller mops, though their approaches to stubborn stains differ. The Max 875 applies a warm mist before scrubbing and automatically protects carpets by lifting and covering the mop, while the Plus 678 uses pressurized water spray and lifts the mop when carpet is sensed. Additional features include advanced obstacle detection using AI technology, precision mapping via dual-line LiDAR, and specialized brushes designed to manage pet hair and clean tight corners effectively.
The AutoWash Dock accompanying both models provides extended maintenance intervals, handling washing, drying, and debris disposal for up to 90 days without user intervention. The Max 875 dock additionally features automatic cleaning solution dispensing, while both use heated water and air to prevent mildew development. Both models are available for preorder immediately.
