Gubbara Entertainment, an Indian production company, is establishing a distribution division to expand its reach in the film industry. The timing coincides with significant festival premieres, including the world debut of the short film “Termite” at the Toronto International Film Festival and a segment from the anthology feature “Muhabbat Se” at the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir.
Founded in 2024, Gubbara Entertainment has positioned itself as a creative enterprise focused on financial sustainability and artist partnerships. The company currently has nine feature-length projects in development, seven short documentaries completed, and additional works in post-production. “Termite,” directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Shaunak Sen in his fiction debut, represents a collaboration with Kiterabbit Films and the Azim Premji Foundation. The “Muhabbat Se” anthology, featuring a chapter directed by Rohin Raveendran titled “Arifa,” will receive theatrical distribution through PVR in select Indian cities beginning October 23.
Company founder Dimpy Agrawal, who previously worked in banking and held positions at major entertainment firms including Netflix and Dharma Productions, has built Gubbara around supporting emerging filmmakers. The roster includes six first-time directors and five women filmmakers. Agrawal emphasized the company’s commitment to getting completed work in front of audiences and developing sustainable creative infrastructure, rather than conventional studio commissioning models. The company’s full feature slate is expected to launch in 2027.
