iRobot has unveiled two new robot vacuum models at the IFA trade show in Berlin, marking a significant product launch for the company under its new ownership. Picea Robotics, which acquired iRobot from bankruptcy earlier this year, is overseeing the release of the flagship Roomba Max 875 Combo priced at $1,199 and a more affordable Roomba Plus 678 Combo at $899. Both units are now available for purchase through iRobot’s official website.
The standout feature of the new Max 875 is its innovative SealForce technology, which creates an enhanced seal between the cleaning head and carpet surfaces. When the robot detects carpet, a specialized skirt lowers around the cleaning mechanism to direct airflow more effectively into carpet fibers. Combined with a new motor that moves significantly more air volume than previous models, this system delivers three times deeper cleaning performance on carpeted floors compared to versions without the feature.
The Max 875 also boasts the highest suction power iRobot has publicly reported, rated at 35,000 Pa. Additional enhancements include a single rubber brush design, navigation powered by lidar and camera technology, and the ability to climb over thresholds. For mopping capabilities, the unit features a self-cleaning roller system with a new heated mist feature called ThermaMist that pre-treats stains before the mop passes over them.
