The Iranian offensive follows an American military operation that reportedly resulted in civilian casualties. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, a US missile strike on a residential property in Sirik, southern Iran, where residents were celebrating a wedding, killed five people including a child and wounded over 50 others. US military officials acknowledged awareness of these reports but maintained that American forces do not deliberately target civilian populations.
The US military stated its recent operations targeted Iranian Revolutionary Guard positions responsible for attempted attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz and against American forces in the region. Jordan’s military reported intercepting the majority of incoming Iranian missiles, with no casualties reported. Additional explosions were documented in other Gulf locations, and Iranian media claimed strikes destroyed military infrastructure including maintenance facilities and equipment storage.
