The 22nd Zurich Film Festival will present Julianne Moore with the prestigious Golden Icon Award in recognition of her illustrious career and her performance in the film “The Debut.” Director Jesse Eisenberg will attend the festival alongside Moore to support the screening of his latest directorial effort, which reunites him with the acclaimed actress for their second collaboration.
“The Debut” marks Eisenberg’s third feature film as director, following his 2022 directorial debut “When You Finish Saving the World.” In the film, Moore portrays Mona Friedman, a reserved housewife who undergoes a dramatic transformation after landing a minor role in a community theater production. Her character becomes an intensely committed method actor, even clashing with the show’s authoritarian director to preserve her vision of the role.
