The incident involved Cardiff defender Krystian Bielik and a young supporter from the home crowd, arising when the player attempted to recover the ball from spectators during the match.
Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy stated that his player had been struck across the face, while video evidence circulating online depicted Bielik engaging physically with the supporter. Hampshire Police confirmed they are examining the matter, noting that a teenage boy was reportedly assaulted. A separate incident saw another Portsmouth supporter ejected after throwing a ball at Cardiff’s Perry Ng.
Portsmouth Football Club issued a statement emphasizing that safeguarding concerns remain paramount and cautioned against speculation while inquiries continue.
