During a press conference for her latest film, “The Echo Chamber,” Sarandon stated that she has recently lost movie roles because talent agencies are actively discouraging filmmakers from working with her.
Sarandon previously made headlines in 2023 when she was dropped by her agency UTA following comments she made at a pro-Palestinian gathering. She reiterated these challenges during Sunday’s Venice appearance, noting that despite shifting public sentiment regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and increased awareness about U.S. support for Israel, certain industry gatekeepers continue to maintain barriers against her employment.
The actress credited director Andrea Pallaoro for moving forward with casting her in “The Echo Chamber” despite alleged warnings against doing so. Sarandon emphasized that while attitudes have evolved among general audiences, particularly internationally, certain influential figures within Hollywood entertainment continue to object to her involvement in projects.
Despite these professional setbacks, Sarandon expressed contentment with her current circumstances and community support, indicating she has found acceptance among those who share her perspectives on the conflict.
