Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur expressed confidence that star running back Josh Jacobs will remain with the team during the upcoming 2026 season, despite recent legal developments. LaFleur made his stance clear as the franchise completed its preseason preparations, stating he anticipates Jacobs continuing as a member of the roster going forward.
The decision comes after Jacobs was formally charged with two misdemeanor counts on August 27. According to Brown County district attorney records, the running back faces charges of battery and criminal damage to property stemming from an alleged incident at his residence near Green Bay in May. Jacobs was originally arrested on five counts including one felony charge, though three charges were subsequently dropped. His initial court appearance is scheduled for November 17.
LaFleur acknowledged the need to allow the legal process to proceed while maintaining his commitment to the player’s involvement with the team. Jacobs, in his third season with Green Bay, was a key contributor last year, accumulating 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 36 receptions. The Packers will rely heavily on his production as they aim to improve upon their 9-7-1 record and capture their first NFC North title in four years.
