Festival founder Jonathan Martin emphasized the event’s growing reputation as a premier destination for inventive genre cinema, noting that the organization’s success demonstrates the enduring appeal and power of the genre film space.
The 2026 program includes multiple world premieres spanning various subgenres, from supernatural dark comedy to cosmic horror and revenge thrillers. Notable projects making their debut include “The Avalanche,” “The Relic: Dragon,” “Whiskey Throttle,” and “The Crawling.” Additionally, several films will premiere regionally or across North America at the festival, covering diverse storytelling approaches and creative visions from independent filmmakers.
Beyond film screenings, FilmQuest is expanding its scope with a newly launched genre film market designed to facilitate distribution and sales opportunities. The initiative will showcase 20-40 curated feature films to industry professionals. The festival is also hosting “Camp Cthulhu,” which will feature filmmaking labs and workshops led by prominent industry figures, providing educational opportunities alongside the competitive programming.
