The BFI London Film Festival has announced its complete programming for its 70th edition, featuring an ambitious selection that encompasses festival favorites and anticipated awards contenders. Running from October 7-18, the event will open with Andrew Scott’s “Elsinore” and conclude with Jesse Eisenberg’s “The Debut,” anchoring a diverse slate of international cinema.
Among the festival’s major presentations are several high-profile world premieres, including Laika’s animated feature “Wildwood” directed by Travis Knight and Netflix’s “Ray Gunn,” helmed by Brad Bird. Additional world premieres include a British boxing biography and other original works making their debut in London. The gala selections showcase acclaimed recent festival entries, ranging from Danny Boyle’s Venice opener “Ink” to Martin McDonagh’s latest film “Wild Horse Nine.”
The comprehensive 70th edition will present 251 works spanning features, documentaries, shorts and immersive experiences from 88 countries. The programming emphasizes emerging talent and diverse voices, with nearly half of the films directed by women and 33 works receiving their world premieres. Television programming will also feature, including installments from the acclaimed “The Trip” series and Marvel Studios content.
