Cartoon Forum, Europe’s premier co-production forum for animated television series, has announced its 2026 Tribute nominees just days before the event commences in Toulouse from September 14-17. The prestigious awards, first introduced in 2006, recognize outstanding contributions and creative achievements from key figures within the European animation industry. The forum will feature 65 projects being pitched across its three-day schedule, with Canada-Québec serving as the special focus region this year.
Ten companies representing seven European nations are vying for recognition across three traditional Tribute categories: Broadcaster, Investor/Distributor, and Producer of the Year. Producer nominees include Bionaut from the Czech Republic, Bobby Prod and Folivari International from France, Mago Production from Spain, and Melusine Studio from Luxembourg. The broadcaster category features the BBC, Sweden’s SVT, and Germany’s Südwestrundfunk, while the investor/distributor category includes additional French and German industry players.
In a significant development, the 2026 edition introduces the Ecoprod-Cartoon Tribute, a new award category celebrating European animation companies demonstrating exceptional commitment to sustainability practices. Developed in partnership with Ecoprod, a French non-profit organization supporting environmental transitions within the audiovisual sector, this inaugural award reflects the industry’s growing focus on ecological responsibility. Winners will be determined through votes cast by forum attendees representing approximately 40 countries.
