WildBrain, a Canadian children’s media company owning popular franchises like “Yo Gabba Gabba!” and “Teletubbies,” has completed its acquisition of Personality AI, a generative artificial intelligence platform designed for child audiences. The transaction involves a combination of cash and stock valued at up to $69 million, as WildBrain seeks to integrate its extensive intellectual property portfolio with cutting-edge conversational AI technology.
Personality AI has built its reputation on developing child-safe conversational character experiences by combining AI engineers, child development specialists, and entertainment professionals. The platform implements protective safeguards during user interactions while avoiding data retention of child information. The startup previously partnered with Amazon to create a “Peppa Pig” experience on the Amazon Kids+ subscription service and maintains certification through the FTC’s COPPA Safe Harbor Program, a recognized independent oversight body for federal child privacy standards.
The deal structure includes approximately $11 million in initial cash payment plus one million shares, with additional share-based consideration arriving within a year. Performance-based payments of up to $56 million depend on Personality AI’s revenue results between 2027 and 2029. WildBrain leadership indicated the acquisition strengthens its capacity to provide comprehensive franchise solutions through its in-house licensing division, WildBrain CPLG, while supporting growth across both company-owned and partner intellectual properties including “Degrassi” and “Strawberry Shortcake.”
