An unidentified person or group calling themselves CyberLeek has begun releasing what appears to be unreleased footage from Grand Theft Auto VI just months before its scheduled November launch. The leaked clips, which started appearing online August 18, showcase various gameplay elements including driving, combat, and a basketball mini-game featuring protagonist Jason. The material has spread rapidly across social media platforms despite remaining unconfirmed by developer Rockstar Games or its parent company Take-Two Interactive.
Beyond simply sharing footage, CyberLeek has positioned itself as a consumer advocacy organization, publishing a manifesto criticizing major game publishers for practices it considers anti-consumer. The group opposes digital preorders for games that cannot sell out, paid unlocks for single-player content already contained in games, and permanent loss of access when publishers shut down servers. CyberLeek claims responsibility for the leaks will continue until these demands are addressed, a condition Rockstar is extremely unlikely to meet.
Most notably, one recent video demonstrates potential access to a playable version of the game rather than merely stolen footage. The clip shows the character firing bullets to spell “LEEK” on a wall—suggesting real-time control rather than pre-recorded material. CyberLeek has also launched its own cryptocurrency token and allows users to vote on which footage to release next by spending the digital currency, creating a financial incentive structure around the leaks.
The identity of CyberLeek remains unknown, as does the method through which they obtained the material. The leaks have generated significant attention ahead of an official extended gameplay reveal scheduled for Netflix on August 27, raising concerns among fans about potential story spoilers before the game’s November 19 release date.
