Brazilian football club Vasco da Gama found itself at the center of a law enforcement operation on Monday morning when authorities conducted searches targeting the club and its players. The investigation, known as Operation A Tropa, focused on combating drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, and money laundering activities across multiple states.
Forward David Corrêa, commonly referred to as DVD, was subject to police searches at both his residence and Vasco’s training facility. The 30-year-old striker had recently appeared in a match against Cruzeiro on Saturday, where he scored one of the goals in his team’s victory. Corrêa has built a career spanning several major Brazilian clubs including Internacional, São Paulo, Vitória, and Fortaleza.
The operation extended beyond Vasco’s squad, with forward Renyer Oliveira also involved in the investigation. Currently playing for Azuriz-PR, Oliveira was apprehended on charges of contempt and resisting arrest. The former Santos academy player previously played for clubs including Guarani and Polish side Pogon Szczecin.
The comprehensive law enforcement effort included multiple search warrants and arrest warrants distributed across four Brazilian states—Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Goiás—as well as the Federal District, indicating the widespread nature of the investigation.
