Disney Theatrical Group has announced that its stage adaptation of “The Greatest Showman” will premiere at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Spring 2027. The production follows a successful engagement at the Bristol Hippodrome and marks a significant milestone as the first stage musical adaptation of a 20th Century Studios film by Disney Theatrical Group.
The cast will be led by Oliver Tompsett as P.T. Barnum and Samantha Barks as Charity Barnum, with additional roles filled by Ben Joyce, Vajèn van den Bosch, and Malinda Parris. The creative team includes composer Benj Pasek and lyricist Justin Paul, who crafted the original film’s soundtrack alongside new compositions written specifically for the stage. Tim Federle has written the book, while two-time Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw will direct and choreograph the production.
The musical features the film’s most celebrated songs, including “This Is Me,” which won a Golden Globe Award, along with “The Greatest Show,” “A Million Dreams,” and “Come Alive.” The stage adaptation is based on the 2017 film from 20th Century Studios and maintains the original story’s themes of celebrating outsiders and dreamers.
This production continues Disney Theatrical Group’s ongoing partnership with Theatre Royal Drury Lane, where the company’s “Hercules” is currently performing. The theatre has been home to Disney Theatrical productions since its reopening in 2021.
