Since launching its mobile application in April, the cruising platform Squirt has been rolling out new functionality designed to attract users from competing services. The latest update introduces a “Places” feature that allows members to share their current whereabouts or indicate locations they plan to visit within the next hour, similar to existing tools offered by rival applications.
Members can now mark themselves at various public venues such as fitness centers, dining establishments, or recreational areas, helping other users identify potential meetups. The platform has also enhanced its Cruiser Listings section, a long-standing component that has existed for over two decades, by incorporating real-time check-in capabilities. Users can now confirm their arrival at specific locations or indicate future plans, with the system displaying active check-ins from within a 45-mile radius based on user-submitted information.
According to Rob Fisher, the company’s Director of Product Development and Customer Success, these additions aim to facilitate in-person connections more efficiently. The new check-in system enables members to communicate their location and discover nearby users, creating what Fisher describes as a more immediate and organic approach to meeting others.
To encourage adoption, Squirt is temporarily providing all members with complimentary access to view active check-ins across its entire Cruiser Listings network.
