YouTube horror sensation Sam Evenson is making his feature directorial debut by expanding his viral short film “Ignore It” into a full-length horror production. The project marks a collaboration between Evenson and the producers behind the hit film “Smile,” with Temple Hill Entertainment and Anton joining forces to develop the feature adaptation.
The story follows a family attempting to survive an encounter with a supernatural threat called “The Woman,” with their survival depending on a single rule: do not acknowledge her presence. Actress Lily Collias, known for her recent appearances in “Roofman” and the critically acclaimed indie film “Good One,” has been cast in the lead role. Anton is currently handling worldwide sales for the project and will provide full financing.
Evenson’s original seven-minute short, released on YouTube in 2021, has garnered over 12 million views and built a devoted following across social media platforms. The source material draws from a popular Reddit story by Jeff Speziale, who is now collaborating with Evenson to expand the narrative for the feature film. Evenson, whose Grimoire Horror channel boasts nearly 200,000 subscribers, also brings professional VFX experience to the role, having contributed to major productions including “Dune: Part Two” and HBO’s “The Last of Us.”
The film joins another Evenson project currently in development with Neon, though “Ignore It” is expected to enter production first. The feature will be produced by Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, and others.
