Well Go USA Entertainment has announced a wide theatrical release for the Chinese-language film “Dear You” across North America, scheduled to premiere on September 4. The distribution deal encompasses major cinema chains including AMC, Regal, Cinemark, and Cineplex, with screenings planned for major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Vancouver, among numerous other markets.
Directed by Lan Hongchun, the film features dialogue primarily in the Teochew dialect and tells the story of a financially struggling grandson who travels to Thailand to locate his estranged grandfather. Rather than finding assistance for his debts, the protagonist discovers a profound narrative of familial devotion and personal sacrifice rooted in the heritage of Chinese diaspora communities. The cast includes Li Sitong, Wang Yantong, and Wu Shaoqing, along with appearances from actors recognized in the film “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies.”
The production has achieved significant acclaim in its home market, garnering a 9.3-rating on the review platform Douban and generating approximately 2 billion yuan at the Chinese box office, establishing it among 2026’s highest-earning films domestically. The film has already launched in several Asia-Pacific territories and will be presented with English subtitles in Teochew, Mandarin, and Thai.
Well Go USA has released a preview clip from the film ahead of its North American debut. The movie previously served as the closing night selection at the New York Asian Film Festival and has received recognition including the Special Jury Honor at the China Movie Channel Media Awards 2026.
