Wrexham’s assistant manager Steve Parkin has defended the club’s transfer strategy in response to Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder’s criticism over the pursuit of attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare. Parkin emphasized that Wrexham’s recruitment process is far more deliberate than Wilder suggested, explaining that the club carefully identifies specific targets rather than making indiscriminate bids. O’Hare is expected to complete a medical on deadline day, with the deal valued at approximately £6.5 million. The club has already secured other additions this summer, including centre-back Joe Worrall from Burnley on a two-year contract.
Meanwhile, Wrexham confirmed defender Conor Coady’s departure through mutual contract termination. The 33-year-old made limited first-team appearances but earned praise from Parkin for his professionalism and influence on younger players during his time at the club. Fellow defender Dan Scarr is also expected to depart for Salford City on deadline day, while midfielder Elliot Lee remains a potential outgoing amid continued squad adjustments.
