The PGA Tour has appointed Tyler Rutstein as its new chief marketing officer, effective October 5. Rutstein brings extensive experience from the sports industry, having previously served as senior vice president of global brand and Americas marketing at Under Armour, where he oversaw brand management, marketing operations, and sports marketing initiatives.
Before his tenure at Under Armour, Rutstein held leadership positions at Overtime, an alternative sports league, where he served as chief brand officer and vice president of commerce. During his time there, he grew the company’s apparel business and developed brand strategies across multiple leagues. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly a decade at Adidas, leading global and U.S. marketing efforts tied to major franchises and cultural initiatives.
Rutstein’s appointment arrives as PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp, a former NFL executive, continues implementing modernization efforts for the organization’s tournaments. The tour’s strategy includes establishing both a premier competition level and a challenger series designed to provide pathways for competitive advancement. According to a statement from Rutstein, he views the role as an opportunity to reshape how the PGA Tour engages with fans and attracts new audiences to professional golf.
