Michael Kutryk, a Toronto physician who owns the cabin featured in HBO’s “Heated Rivalry” Season 1, has decided to permit the production to return for a second season after considerable personal reflection. Kutryk explained to HGTV that he wrestled with the decision, acknowledging that he could have leveraged his property for financial gain but ultimately chose a more generous approach with the filmmakers.
When the production team inquired about hosting Season 2 at his residence, Kutryk initially raised concerns about damage to his furniture before settling on what he described as a fair price. He noted that the crew’s surprised and grateful reaction suggested his terms were reasonable, and he ultimately decided not to pursue compensation for property damage. The cabin was used for the Season 1 finale, which depicted characters Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov at a remote family getaway.
Despite agreeing to the second season, Kutryk emphasized his preference for privacy, noting that he constructed the property as a personal retreat away from public life. He indicated uncertainty about extending his hospitality beyond the upcoming season, suggesting he may reassess his involvement once the second installment airs and its cultural impact becomes clear.
