Olivia Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival proved to be a major fundraising success, generating $20 million in total donations. The festival, held Saturday in Irvine, California, originally raised $10 million through ticket sales and attendee contributions before philanthropist Melinda French Gates announced an additional $10 million matching donation during Rodrigo’s headlining performance.
The event featured an extensive lineup of musical talent, including performances by Chappell Roan, Mitski, Garbage, Bikini Kill, and numerous other artists. Rodrigo used her stage time to thank attendees and reveal the final fundraising total, expressing gratitude to Gates and her organization Pivotal for doubling the festival’s impact through their generous commitment.
The $20 million will be distributed evenly among ten nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting women and girls globally. Recipients include Baby2Baby, Planned Parenthood, Center for Reproductive Rights, National Women’s Law Center, and six other organizations focused on maternal health, indigenous health, reproductive rights, and domestic worker advocacy. Festival organizers also incorporated educational elements, offering concertgoers information about the supported causes through an interactive program called Daisy Chain Reaction.
Gates praised Rodrigo’s philanthropic vision during the event, noting that the festival’s impact would extend well beyond the single night and empower future generations. Rodrigo emphasized that the festival exemplified collective action and the importance of using shared resources to support communities in need.
