The film marks a significant return to the Venice Film Festival for Moretti, who has not premiered a work in competition at the festival for over twenty years.
The romantic drama draws inspiration from Israeli author Eshkol Nevo’s short story collection “Hungry Heart,” though specific plot details remain under wraps. Production came together through a collaborative effort involving Sacher Film, Fandango, and RAI Cinema, with pan-European company Vuelta serving as co-producer. Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, co-CEO of Playtime, expressed confidence in the project, noting that Moretti brings his distinctive artistic sensibility to the romance genre, positioning it as an appealing offering for both longtime fans and new audiences.
Distribution agreements have already been finalized in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and numerous other countries spanning from Scandinavia to Latin America and Asia. The swift sales process underscores industry confidence in the celebrated director’s work and the film’s commercial potential ahead of its competitive debut at Venice.
