The Motion Picture Association endorsed two major declarations at the Lumière Summit on Monday, joining governments and organizations globally in committing to the Lumière Declaration on the Future of Cinema and the Moving Image and the Declaration on Strengthened International Cooperation in the Fight Against Film and Audiovisual Piracy. The international gathering was co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
MPA Chair and CEO Charles Rivkin participated in separate business roundtables with both presidents, alongside member studio CEOs. The sessions with President Lee focused on strengthening ties between the industry and Korea’s creative sector, while discussions with President Macron centered on the industry’s future and opportunities to deepen cooperation with France’s creative community.
During the summit, Emilie Anthonis, president and managing director of the MPA’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region, contributed to sessions examining Korea’s growing influence in global film and television production. She also spoke at a panel addressing piracy as a worldwide challenge, discussing the MPA and Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment’s efforts to combat international content theft and protect intellectual property rights.
“Our industry is fueled by great stories, well told,” Rivkin stated, emphasizing that the summit provided an important opportunity for the creative sector to translate shared goals into concrete international cooperation and economic growth.
