Filipino-American actress Liza Soberano has been selected to serve on the jury for the Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary at the Venice Film Festival. The award recognizes documentary features that showcase the medium’s ability to address significant social issues through compelling narratives. The prize is jointly supported by the Golden Globes, Artemis Rising Foundation, and Think-Film Impact Production.
Soberano, who transitioned from a successful career in the Philippines to Hollywood roles including her debut in Focus Features’ “Lisa Frankenstein,” brings her advocacy background to the jury role. Beyond her entertainment work, the actress actively supports causes including children’s rights protection, mental health awareness, and combating child exploitation through her role as an ambassador for Save the Children Philippines.
Speaking about her appointment, Soberano emphasized cinema’s potential to transcend entertainment and create meaningful social impact. She expressed enthusiasm about recognizing documentary filmmakers whose work she views as representative of cinema’s evolving future. The complete jury panel includes Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne, Oscar-winning producers Regina K. Scully and Geralyn White Dreyfous, and Danielle Turkov Wilson from Think-Film Impact Production.
The winning documentary will receive a $10,000 cash prize from Artemis Rising Foundation. This marks the second year of the partnership between these organizations at a major film festival, following its inaugural presentation at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The 83rd Venice Film Festival runs from September 2-12.
