Following a mistrial in her high-profile murder case, Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington has appealed to President Donald Trump for a pardon. During a Tuesday appearance on Good Morning America, Reddington directly addressed the president, asking him to consider granting clemency to the Massachusetts mother based on her circumstances and personal character.
Clancy was tried in connection with the deaths of her three young children. The prosecution argued she deliberately planned and carried out the killings after becoming dissatisfied with her life, while the defense maintained she committed the acts during a severe postpartum psychotic episode, claiming she heard voices commanding her to harm her children. The jury deliberated for a week but ultimately could not reach unanimity, with one juror reportedly disagreeing with the other eleven who favored an acquittal based on insanity.
Beyond seeking a presidential pardon, Reddington indicated openness to negotiating a plea agreement with prosecutors. He expressed hope that reviewing the evidence presented throughout the trial would prompt the prosecution to reconsider their position and work toward a settlement mutually acceptable to both sides.
Trump had previously commented on the case last week, stating Clancy “did a horrible, horrible thing” and suggesting she faced consequences through either institutional commitment or incarceration. The White House has not yet responded to Reddington’s pardon request beyond referencing the president’s earlier statement.
