Showbox, a prominent Korean entertainment studio, has unveiled Showbite, a new division dedicated to producing short-form microdrama content aimed at international audiences. The company plans to begin releasing original programming under this label starting in September, with titles spanning multiple genres including romance, comedy, thriller, period pieces, fantasy, mystery, and horror.
The initial slate features diverse storytelling across various categories. Romance offerings include “Taste of You,” which explores an enemies-to-lovers dynamic within a culinary competition setting, and “Love in Thailand,” a romantic comedy situated at a golf resort. Additional titles feature workplace romance, second-chance love stories, and comedies centered on entertainment industry figures. The label is also developing female-focused revenge narratives, historical dramas set in Korea’s Joseon era, and supernatural-tinged content blending K-pop culture with fantastical elements.
Showbite plans to leverage major industry events to establish partnerships and expand its global reach. The label will participate in Broadcast Worldwide in Seoul and the Asian Contents & Film Market at the Busan International Film Festival, where representatives aim to connect with domestic and international distributors. To build audience engagement, Showbite will launch dedicated accounts on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube in early September to share updates about upcoming releases.
The venture represents Showbox’s strategic effort to combine its storytelling expertise with the growing demand for short-form content, positioning Korean narratives for worldwide consumption through popular social media platforms.
