Principal photography has concluded on the upcoming superhero sequel “Superman: Man of Tomorrow,” with writer and director James Gunn confirming the milestone through a social media post. Gunn expressed enthusiasm about the filming process, sharing his appreciation for the cast and crew members who contributed to the production.
The film serves as a follow-up to 2025’s “Superman” and reunites David Corenswet in the title role alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The sequel introduces a plot where Superman must join forces with his longtime nemesis Lex Luthor, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult, to combat an even more formidable foe—the highly intelligent villain Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger. The ensemble cast also features returning actors Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Edi Gathegi, among others.
The production also welcomes newcomers to the DC film universe, including Aaron Pierre in his film debut as John Stewart. The theatrical release date is scheduled for July 9, 2027. Throughout the filming process, Gunn maintained fan engagement by sharing behind-the-scenes updates on social platforms, beginning with production announcements in April and continuing through various set updates during the shoot.
