Rapper J. Cole has canceled his scheduled performance in Sacramento following a fatal accident involving a member of his touring crew. The show at Golden 1 Center on Thursday was called off after the crew member died in a trucking incident that morning, according to an announcement made by the venue.
The crew member, identified as 66-year-old Jarlath Parkinson from Jackson, South Carolina, was operating a semi-truck carrying equipment from a previous concert in Seattle when the vehicle veered off an interstate highway and overturned. He was the sole occupant of the truck and did not survive the crash. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause, though they noted it could have resulted from driver distraction or fatigue.
Ticketmaster customers will receive automatic refunds for their tickets, while those who purchased through third-party resellers have been instructed to contact their original point of sale. Cole is currently touring in support of his latest album and has upcoming performances scheduled in Oakland this weekend, followed by shows in Los Angeles next week as part of a 50-city international tour.
