The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to China on August 29 for UFC Shanghai, headlined by a bantamweight matchup between Umar Nurmagomedov and Song Yadong. The event takes place at Shanghai Indoor Stadium and will be available to stream on Paramount+ for U.S. viewers, with preliminary bouts beginning at 3 a.m. ET and the main card starting at 6 a.m. ET.
Nurmagomedov enters the contest with a 20-1 record, having recently defeated Mario Bautista and Deiveson Figueiredo following his sole career loss in a failed title bid last year. A victory could position him for another championship opportunity. Song, competing on home turf with a 23-9 record, recently earned a submission victory over Figueiredo in May and seeks to build momentum after a mixed stretch in recent competitions.
The co-main event features a strawweight bout between Chinese fighter Xiaonan Yan and Denise Gomes. Yan, 37, has not competed since April 2025, while Gomes arrives on a four-fight winning streak. International audiences can access the event through TNT Sports and Discovery+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with preliminary coverage beginning at 8 a.m. BST and the main card at 11 a.m. BST.
