An upcoming horror thriller titled Hellcat is generating buzz ahead of its Shudder debut, with festival audiences praising writer-director Brock Bodell’s first feature for its intensity and unexpected narrative turns. The streaming service has released an exclusive clip that hints at the film’s hidden genre elements, offering viewers a tantalizing preview of what lies beneath the surface.
The film follows Lena, portrayed by Dakota Gorman, who regains consciousness inside a mobile home she doesn’t recognize. With covered windows and the sensation of movement, she discovers she’s been imprisoned in a tow truck being driven by a man named Clive, played by Todd Terry. The captor communicates with his captive through a PA system from the vehicle’s cab, creating an atmosphere of confinement and dread.
In the teased footage, Lena investigates her surroundings and discovers disturbing contents within a small refrigerator: syringes filled with lorazepam, a sedative medication, alongside raw meat covered in blood. When Clive angrily forbids her from touching his medication without elaboration, the situation grows increasingly sinister. Lena’s attention becomes fixated on the meat, but her focus shifts when she detects a woman’s muffled cry emanating from deeper within the trailer, leaving critical questions unanswered.
Hellcat arrives on Shudder on August 14, promising to reveal the mysteries hinted at in this unsettling preview.
