A West Hollywood pig’s unexpected adventure came to a storybook conclusion this week when Grammy-nominated songwriter Diane Warren stepped in to adopt the animal. The incident began over the weekend when a viral video captured a young piglet running through the neighborhood streets, with bystander Jamaal Harrison pursuing the animal and documenting the chaotic scene. The piglet was subsequently apprehended and named Wilbur, after the beloved character from “Charlotte’s Web.”
After spending several days at the West L.A. Animal Services Shelter with no owner coming forward to claim him, Wilbur’s fate was determined through a silent auction held on Thursday. Marcia Zwilling, who manages Warren’s animal foundation, won the bidding on behalf of the songwriter. Warren explained her decision to rescue Wilbur, noting that friends had sent her footage of the distressed animal and referencing her previous work helping animals in need.
The approximately 11-week-old pig will now reside at Warren’s Moosebutt Rescue Ranch, where Zwilling promised he would enjoy a comfortable life complete with gourmet meals. Animal Services officials cautioned that Wilbur could eventually grow to between 50 and 125 pounds, requiring adequate space and compliance with local zoning regulations. Warren expressed enthusiasm about giving the animal a safe home, emphasizing that all animals deserve care and protection.
