Miley Cyrus is embarking on a new chapter in her career by releasing her tenth studio album, “Bass Persuades,” under a mononymous brand. The artist announced the project this week through a promotional video that featured only her first name, a decision that extended to her social media presence as well. In an accompanying Instagram post, she reflected on the personal meaning behind the album’s title, describing music as a powerful medium that captures both vulnerability and strength throughout life’s experiences.
Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley’s father, offered his perspective on the rebrand in a recent social media statement. He explained that he has historically called his daughter simply by her first name, drawing parallels to his own early career when he performed under the single name “Cyrus” before his breakthrough hit in 1992. Billy Ray referenced other iconic performers who have adopted mononymous stage names, including Dolly Parton, Cher, Elvis, and Prince, positioning his daughter’s decision within a tradition of major artists.
The singer’s tenth album will release on September 18 and consists of ten tracks. Industry representatives indicated that the project represents a new creative direction honoring the influence of Dolly Parton, Cyrus’s godmother who recently passed away. Following the album’s debut, Cyrus will perform two headline concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in October, marking her first full U.S. concert dates since 2021.
