UEFA has officially designated Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena as the venue for the 2028 Champions League final. The decision was announced following a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee in Thessaloniki, Greece. This marks the third time the Munich stadium will host the competition’s championship match.
The Allianz Arena previously hosted the Champions League final in 2012, when Chelsea defeated the hometown Bayern Munich side in a penalty shootout, and again in 2025 when Paris Saint-Germain claimed their inaugural title at the venue. The selection of Munich for 2028 comes just three years after the most recent final held there.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Camp Nou has been chosen to host the 2029 Champions League final, completing the announcement of venues for the next two years. UEFA simultaneously confirmed host cities for multiple other continental competitions, including the Women’s Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, and Super Cup across various seasons.
Bayern Munich will naturally hope to compete in their home final, though the club must first focus on the upcoming championship match at Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano next June. The selection of the Allianz Arena underscores the venue’s status as one of Europe’s premier football stadiums.
