Coco Gauff has reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open for the first time since capturing the championship in 2023. The fourth-seeded American defeated 14th-seeded Iva Jovic in straight sets Monday evening with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 performance, extending her winning streak to ten consecutive matches.
Gauff will advance to face fifth-seeded Mirra Andreeva of Russia in Wednesday’s quarterfinal matchup. The Atlanta native’s dominant run includes six victories at the Cincinnati Open prior to her strong start in New York, where she has not dropped a single set across her first four matches at the tournament.
This represents a significant return to form for Gauff following disappointing results in recent years. After her 2023 triumph, she was eliminated in the fourth round by fellow American Emma Navarro in 2024 and by Naomi Osaka in 2025. Jovic, an 18-year-old rising American talent, had reached the Australian Open quarterfinals earlier this year and upset 17th-seeded Alex Eala in the previous round before running into Gauff’s hot streak.
