A volleyball star from Kansas made headlines over the weekend after delivering an outstanding performance at a historic matchup. Brooklyn DeLeye, a native of Topeka and graduate of Washburn Rural High School, played a key role in leading the University of Kentucky to victory against Penn State on Sunday evening at Chicago’s iconic Wrigley Field.
The contest marked the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge held at the famous baseball stadium. DeLeye, competing as a senior outside hitter for the Wildcats, recorded 21 kills while adding ten defensive digs to help secure the 3-1 triumph over the ranked Penn State squad.
Her exceptional play did not go unnoticed by conference officials. The following day, DeLeye received recognition for her contributions when she was named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, joining other standout performers honored by the conference for their efforts during the week.
