Anthony Volpe of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders earned the International League Player of the Week award following an impressive performance against Worcester. The infielder’s standout week has proven instrumental in the RailRiders’ competitive push during the second half of the season.
Volpe demonstrated exceptional offensive production throughout the six-game series with Worcester, recording 11 hits in 21 at-bats for a .524 batting average. His power was on full display as he belted three home runs and added three doubles, while also driving in six runs and scoring eight times. Beyond his hitting prowess, Volpe showcased his speed and discipline by stealing five bases and drawing three walks during the week.
Since rejoining the RailRiders lineup, Volpe has continued his hot streak, accumulating 10 home runs over a one-month span in Triple-A. His resurgent performance has significantly contributed to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s climb in the standings. Currently trailing Rochester by a single game, the RailRiders remain well-positioned in their quest to secure a playoff spot in the second-half race.
