The Spanish national competition features several high-profile debuts, including the second season of critically acclaimed series “Celeste,” produced by Movistar Plus+ and 100 Balas. The show, which previously won best screenplay honors at the festival, follows tax inspector Sara Santano as she investigates new cases of financial misconduct, with Carmen Machi reprising her award-winning lead role. Also competing nationally is “Killing a Bear,” an Arte France co-production based on Spain’s first criminal investigation into the death of a wild animal. The six-episode series dramatizes the 2020 incident involving a bear named Cachou in the Pyrenees and features a distinguished ensemble cast.
The international competition, featuring six titles, showcases acclaimed creator Hagai Levi’s “Etty,” a French-German-Dutch production about Dutch writer Etty Hillesum. The lineup also includes the French satire “Camarades,” which won best actress recognition at Series Mania, the BBC comedy “Ann Droid” starring Diane Morgan, and the Channel 4 factual drama “Dirty Business.” Rounding out the selections is Germany’s “A Better Place,” marking Studiocanal’s first German television production.
