Asus announced pricing for its ROG Xbox Ally X20 gaming handheld at Gamescom this week, setting the standalone device at $1,299.99. The premium OLED handheld costs $300 more than the original Xbox Ally X model released last year. The company is also offering a bundle package that pairs the device with augmented reality glasses for $2,499.99. Originally, Asus had planned to sell the X20 exclusively as part of a bundle, but reversed that decision during the summer months.
The Xbox Ally X20 features a larger and brighter 7.4-inch OLED display compared to its predecessor, along with a transparent black chassis that reveals gold-accented internal components. The device includes a redesigned thermal management system to handle the heat sensitivity of OLED panels. Other improvements include improved face buttons, textured grip surfaces, advanced joystick technology, and an adaptive D-pad capable of switching between different control modes.
Under the hood, the X20 maintains the same processor, 24GB of memory, and 1TB storage as the standard Ally X. It supports Windows 11’s AI upscaling technology. The bundle option includes ROG XREAL R1 AR glasses that feature a 240Hz virtual display, an adapter, and two protective cases—one from dbrand with a built-in stand and another rugged Pelican case for accessories.
Preorders are now available through Best Buy and Asus’s website, with shipments beginning October 15.
