Arizona State University plans to extend women’s basketball coach Molly Miller’s contract by one additional year, keeping her through the 2030-31 season. The proposed agreement will increase her base salary to $850,000 beginning in May 2027, with further raises reaching $1 million by May 2030. The Board of Regents is scheduled to vote on the extension later this month.
Miller’s contract extension comes after a remarkable turnaround in her inaugural season as head coach. The Sun Devils achieved a 24-11 record and earned an NCAA tournament berth, marking a significant improvement from the program’s 10-win season the previous year. This performance represents one of the nation’s most notable single-season turnarounds and marks the first time ASU has won more than 20 games since the 2019-20 season.
The extension proposal highlights several factors contributing to the program’s success, including record-breaking attendance figures for single games and the entire season, a 53 percent increase in broadcast viewership, and Miller’s effectiveness in recruitment and player development. Miller’s original five-year contract, signed before her tenure began, is set to expire in April 2030 and was valued at slightly more than $4 million before performance bonuses.
