Mari, the global events and experiences venture launched by entertainment executive Ari Emanuel, has agreed to purchase ATG Entertainment from Providence Equity Partners in a significant multibillion-dollar transaction. The Wall Street Journal reported the deal’s value at approximately $6 billion, pending regulatory approval. ATG operates a substantial network of 70 theaters spread across four countries, with notable locations including ten venues on London’s West End and seven on Broadway.
The theater company has established itself as a major player in the live entertainment sector, hosting acclaimed productions such as “Wicked,” “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” and “The Lion King.” ATG’s venues attract more than 18 million annual attendees through its combined operations in ticketing, production, and venue management across the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, and Spain.
Emanuel expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition in a statement, emphasizing his long-standing connection to theater and his confidence in the enduring power of live entertainment. Following the deal’s completion, Mari plans to function as a long-term steward of ATG’s properties, dedicating resources toward facility upgrades and preservation while enhancing audience experiences. ATG’s leadership confirmed the company will maintain its current brand identity, operational independence, and commitment to creative freedom under Mari’s ownership.
Mari’s existing portfolio encompasses various entertainment and cultural properties, including Frieze, the Miami Open, the Mutua Madrid Open, and Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, among others.
