Podcaster and media entrepreneur Alex Cooper is reportedly preparing to sever ties with talent agency UTA, marking a significant shift in her professional representation. According to sources familiar with the matter, Cooper’s decision comes as she expands her business ventures beyond her popular podcast and seeks to distance herself from ongoing disputes with other prominent media figures represented by the agency.
UTA has played a crucial role in developing Cooper’s production company, Unwell, helping facilitate major deals including Olympic coverage hosting duties and the launch of the Unwell Network platform. However, Cooper appears ready to explore representation alternatives, with discussions underway regarding a potential move to CAA. The transition arrives as Unwell recently secured significant outside investment from Patrick Whitesell’s investment firm WTSL, valuing the company at $500 million.
The timing of Cooper’s agency departure follows a challenging period marked by negative media coverage regarding workplace conditions at Unwell. Recent reports have raised concerns about management practices, though Cooper has dismissed such allegations as unfounded criticism. Additionally, Cooper recently shuttered her Unwell Beverage Co. partnership with Nestle, signaling a broader reassessment of her business portfolio.
