Apple’s September event is nearly upon us, marking the imminent arrival of iOS 27 alongside new iPhone models. The upcoming operating system update brings substantial enhancements that will refresh existing devices, even for users not purchasing new hardware. Among the most anticipated introductions is the long-awaited Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence technology.
Siri AI represents a major overhaul of Apple’s voice assistant. The feature now includes a dedicated application where users can interact through voice or text, while maintaining existing access methods like voice commands and the Dynamic Island. The enhanced assistant can reference personal information stored across emails, documents, notes, photographs, and calendars to provide contextual responses. A new capability called Write with Siri enables the assistant to generate text based on user requests.
iOS 27 also introduces significant photography improvements. The Photos app gains three major AI-powered editing tools: Spatial Reframing allows users to alter photo perspectives after capture, Extend enables zooming out to generate additional surrounding areas, and an upgraded Clean Up feature removes unwanted objects. Image Playground receives substantial enhancements, shifting from cartoonish generation to photorealistic image creation with multi-element composition capabilities. Visual Intelligence permits Siri AI to answer questions about objects directly in view through the camera or on-screen content.
Additional notable updates include a redesigned Shortcuts app with simplified automation setup, interface customization through the new Liquid Glass slider, and voice personalization options for compatible devices. Users with Apple’s first foldable device can expect multitasking capabilities mirroring tablet functionality.
