On August 27, multiple YouTube videos featuring computer-generated hospital imagery of Parton appeared in the platform’s “Videos on the Rise” and “YouTube Featured” sections. The fabricated thumbnails displayed various scenarios, including depictions of Parton in medical gowns and tubes, as well as composite images pairing her with musician Jelly Roll. All four videos remained accessible as of that afternoon, with some carrying AI disclosure labels and descriptions acknowledging altered or generated content, though one video lacked such warnings.
YouTube’s featured section typically showcases content selected either algorithmically based on viewing history or through manual curation. The videos’ visibility was amplified through the platform’s “Hype” feature, which allows users to boost content discoverability. A YouTube representative stated the company would review and take action against any content violating its policies, indicating an investigation into the matter.
