Twenty-five-year-old Adia is making her feature film debut in an unexpected way. The Washington D.C.-based performer initially pursued professional dance before a hip injury altered her trajectory. During her senior year of high school, she explored acting through a class and discovered a new passion that would reshape her future. What began as casual experimentation eventually led her to relocate to Los Angeles to pursue the craft seriously.
Adia’s breakthrough comes in the action-drama “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother,” which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Bassam Tariq, the film stars two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali as a contract killer navigating unexpected single parenthood. Adia portrays Fatiha, Ali’s resilient teenage daughter who matures rapidly while helping raise her younger siblings. The actress was drawn to the character’s complexity, noting that teenage girls in film are often reduced to one-dimensional stereotypes rather than portrayed with the emotional depth and authenticity that Fatiha embodies.
Before landing this role, Adia had already built a resume with appearances on the Netflix series “The Midnight Club” and the HBO Max program “Full Circle.” The audition process proved memorable, culminating in a chemistry read with Ali—a particularly significant moment since she had previously auditioned for a daughter role opposite the same actor. “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother” will arrive in select theaters on September 25, with a wider release expected in October.
Beyond acting, Adia is pursuing additional meaningful work. The young performer recently obtained certification as a doula, finding fulfillment in birth work and supporting families during one of life’s most transformative experiences.
