Actor Xolo Maridueña expressed uncertainty about the future of his Blue Beetle character following the 2023 film’s release. His concerns were eased when DC Studios head James Gunn personally contacted him with news that the superhero would appear in the upcoming “Superman” sequel, “Man of Tomorrow.” Maridueña recalled receiving the unexpected call while traveling in Japan, describing the moment as so significant he immediately shared the confidential information with his friends.
During an appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of “Practical Magic 2,” Maridueña reflected on the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry. He acknowledged that success in Hollywood depends on numerous factors beyond an actor’s control, but expressed deep gratitude to Gunn and the broader DC team for integrating Blue Beetle into their expanded cinematic universe.
The “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” sequel will reunite David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult in their respective roles as Superman and Lex Luthor. The film’s plot centers on the two characters joining forces to combat an intergalactic threat named Brainiac. The ensemble cast also includes Lars Eidinger, Aaron Pierre, Nathan Fillion, Milly Alcock, Isabela Merced, and Skyler Gisondo.
In other news, Maridueña discussed his experience working on “Practical Magic 2” alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, calling the opportunity surreal. He detailed how he documented his experiences from the first day of filming in his personal journal, highlighting the knowledge and mentorship he gained from his acclaimed co-stars.
