The new record is scheduled to arrive on October 9, following his 2023 release “Something to Give Each Other.” The track features an unexpected vocal contribution from Charli XCX, though her involvement was kept largely under wraps until Sivan’s recent discussion about the collaboration.
The song serves as a tribute to the women in Sivan’s life, presenting admiring observations about an unnamed subject. Collaborators on the track include Jack Antonoff, Leland, Styalz Fuego, and George Daniel of The 1975. Sivan explained that the project marks a departure from his typical songwriting approach, as he avoided self-analysis and shifted focus away from his previous subject matter.
The accompanying music video features Australian actress Nicole Kidman, whom Sivan first met during the 2018 filming of “Boy Erased.” According to Sivan, he sent Kidman the track along with video concepts, and she responded enthusiastically by leaving a voicemail that surprised him during a work meeting. Describing his new album, Sivan characterized it as containing both high-energy bombastic elements and introspective moments that explore themes of longing.
